EU-RUDISNET Successfully Advocates for Inclusivity of Persons with Disabilities in Rural Areas.
While an estimated 15% of the global population is identified as persons with disabilities, the challenges encountered by this community in rural areas are profound. EU-RUDISNET, a pioneering initiative focused on the social inclusion of persons with disabilities in European rural areas, proudly announces the successful completion of its targeted program. The network will play a pivotal role in training adult persons with disabilities, thereby enhancing their leadership skills, self-confidence, and integration into society. The project commenced with a qualitative study identifying the unique needs of persons with disabilities in rural areas, followed by the establishment of a broad Virtual Community. This platform is committed to bringing together European professionals, mentors, and trainers, facilitating the exchange of knowledge and innovative practices. Additionally, the EU-RUDISNET portal stands as an indicator of technological advancement, especially for adult educators in the mentoring domain. Through local workshops, the project has empowered persons with disabilities to become leaders in their respective rural regions, capitalizing on resources and creating significant opportunities for these individuals at the local level. Despite its inherent challenges, the unwavering commitment of the EU-RUDISNET team, coupled with European collaboration from various organizations, has distinctly achieved its goals. The project will not only serve as a vanguard for inclusivity but will also act as a blueprint for future endeavors targeting marginalized communities.
